They are our stress salvation and thus making a mistake in buying them can be affordable. A bed structure can be judged by looking at its bed frame. A bed frame supports the mattress and the foundation underneath the mattress. The strength and stability of the bed completely depends on its frame and this makes it important to consider the bed frames when buying a new bed.
Bed frames are of different kinds. The most common kinds of bed frames are metal and wood bed frames. Both have many similar features but yet are different in their own way. It is common to get confused on which one would be the best choice. Make a choice depending on your requirement and on how well can you put the bed to the maximum use. The simplest form of bed frame is the metal bed frame. They are normally available in all sizes; full, queen and king. The metal bed frames normally sits low on wheels or casters. Wheels are fun to have as it makes it easy to move them around. For more stability they have casters that lock into place. The metal bed frame, in any size has slightly raised edges on each side of the metal support to keep the mattress from slipping off the frame.
The biggest advantage a metal bed frame has is its price. They are cheap and a king size metal bed frame can work out the same as twin size bed made of any other material. Another attractive feature of metal bed frames is that is possible to attach a head and footboard to the metal frame. Wooden bed frames also are constructed on the same principles as to the basic metal bed frame. They have the same support system around the edge to hold the mattress firm. The distinctive difference between metal and wood bed frames is that the wood bed frames do not have wheels or caster. Instead they stand on legs, which make the bed much higher when completely assembled, and provide extra storage under the bed.
The extra storage space which a wooden bed frame offers is the biggest advantage which metal bed frames lack. Wooden frames are heavily crafted and involve more labor than metal. For this reason they are expensive but though they prove them worth each penny spent on them. Occasionally a wooden bed frame adds additional support with slats of wood that run perpendicular to each long side of the frame.
